I made a little track of the path I take every day in Bentley.
Yknow, I’ve visited a lot of ACWW towns and played in non-Bentley ones. Maybe it’s just because I’m so used to it, but I think Bentley has a really, really fantastic layout. My house is set back so that my neighbors are never by it. I mean never. Bob and Teddy don’t even venture up as high as my stone patio (only Lyle is every up by my house or the museum; nobody else goes higher than Bob’s yard). Five of the eight neighbors live near the Plaza, so it really is a hub of activity all the time. I love having the shops right in there too. I refer the the big area there as “downtown Bentley”, because it really is.
jesus fucking christ stop talking about the 3DS characters looking bad because they’re taller
So many feelings.
Like, can I handle all this responsibility? I’ve been fairly vocal about my support for the different gameplay in the past but what if I don’t like it as much? What if it’s too annoying to keep up the town in this role? Also I don’t know how I feel about Nook not running the shop, y’know? I really hope I love the 3DS game.
I’m one of those people that think too much customization puts a distracting damper on a game, so there’s that I kinda worry about. But but but I’m being really optimistic overall. I’m just glad that the poor reception of City Folk got their butts in gear to actually bring something fresh to the franchise so it doesn’t die.
Also I am going to request off a day or two when this game arrives so I can enjoy it properly. What? Don’t judge me. Half the nation of South Korea stayed home when Starcraft II came out (and a respectable number of North Americans, as well)
I forgot that I’d left these here. Almost peed myself.
This is what 19,000+ bells looks like.
Extreme makeover: Ruby edition.
I shook a tree and a painting fell out. But the museum already has one. >:\ Also Blathers didn’t buy my story about it falling out of a tree. Fuckin embarrassing.
Louie and Ricky were the only ones who sent me Valentine’s letters. I hope Louie catches a sea bass. Ricky is still my dollbaby.
Also Louie and Bob were both staring at the ground so I decided to dig there and — voila! — first hole and there was a mole cricket. Apparently I needed it for the museum, so I grudgingly had to thank Louie.
So I checked into the town on that cartridge and it was T.K. in My Town (fuckin seriously people) but it looks like it was well-loved seven years ago. T.K. had a statue of herself in front of the train station and a nice house with really nice stuff in it. And a sweet little island between two bridges. I love that feature…
And and and the townies! Tangy, Prince, Petunia, Savannah, Dotty, Hank, Monique, Gaston, Lucy, Lobo, Weber, Biff, Mint and Nosegayl.
I was gonna just come over with Fern and loot (I might still) but the neighbors are so great that I’m either gonna play in it myself occasionally or give it to a friend.
My copy got all junked up so I had to order another one. I only paid four dollars for it and was surprised that it came with a cartridge! Aah I wonder if it has someone else’s town on it? I want to visit it, haha. Also I don’t think either of my other copies had the manual, so that’s cool, too. Gonna play some ACGC tonight baybee.
Oh oh and another thing I’d love to see in the 3DS edition is for Copper and Booker to be policemen again. They’re soo much cuter as cops and hey, the profession is their namesake.
Recent thoughts in anticipation of the 3DS release.
I never got into City Folk. At all. And though I occasionally play in a Gamecube town or additional Wild World town, I’ve never given any Animal Crossing town other than Bentley any real dedication. But I fully intend to with the 3DS game. From what I’ve seen, I’m pretty confident that it won’t suck as much as a successor as City Folk did. They’re bringing new, fresh gameplay to the table and I’m stoked.
But I worry. What if I begin to neglect Bentley because the 3DS game is so rockhard awesome?

I cannot wait to:
- Wear pants and different shoes. I love the promo image of a girl wearing the Red Riding Hoody with tights and boots — I am stoked to wear tights! Also, LONG SLEEVES HELLOOOO? It’s about time.
- Try out new hairstyles. I’m assuming new ones will be introduced.
- Meet new neighbors, that are new to this edition. Again, I’m assuming there will be a handful of entirely new characters — wouldn’t it be awesome if they brought back some of the e+ exclusive characters? Or at least Tomato?
- See the new style of town layout and different houses. I’m so so excited to see the town layouts finally be different than ever before!
- Hear the new theme song and background music and see where KK performs.
- Meet my eager secretary. Goddamn she’s so adorable. Forming a relationship with her like how you do Sable and Brewster will be really cool.
- Go swimming! Can you dive for shells? You should be able to dive for shells. I’d love if it turned to an “underwater level” sort of view when you dive!
- The island is possibly coming back and I’m super excited for it!
Things I want to see that very well might not be there:
- Change the length of shirt sleeves, long or short! So you can wear any shirt at any time of year. Also scarves!
- See the neighbors actually fishing or chasing bugs. They’d never catch anything, obv, just like how they can’t make holes or cut down your trees or water your flowers for you, but it’d look so damn cute!
- On that note, slightly better AI for the neighbors. I don’t expect much, tbh, but at least a little better. They’ve been getting better with each edition, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
- I know this isn’t in it but dammit I’ve wanted ice skating in Animal Crossing for so long. There should be neighbors skating on the pond at random during the winter.
- They should bring back a bunch of e+ exclusive features. Like your birthday concert!
- FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS GOOD, LONGER FIELDS FOR NAMES. The eight-character limit is plenty for Japanese but incredibly restricting for English!
